For a number of years, Highland City maintained their utility mapping in CAD. They reached out to us several years ago to help them migrate their data to GIS. Our initial project helped them take data that was collected with a GPS unit and create maps that were utilized in the office. When they realized how valuable it was to have that mapping in the hands of the field operators, our team at GMI met with the teams to determine the workflows in place and identify potential areas for improvement. We converted the data to an online format and created a series of maps and applications for the operators to use in locating utilities, performing inspections, and in the course of their day-to-day work.
