In 2003, the City of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho contracted with J-U-B Engineers, Inc. (J-U-B) and subsidiary Gateway Mapping Inc. (GMI) to convert their existing wastewater system maps from AutoCAD to GIS and implement a GIS-based asset management system. J-U-B and GMI worked with City staff to create a customized system to meet their specific needs. Data workflows were designed and automated to allow multiple users input data pertinent to the wastewater system. Once the system was set up, time was spent onsite training City staff on the system, including those who previously had no experience using GIS. After completion of the initial project, J-U-B and GMI have provided continual GIS support for Coeur d’ Alene staff, including the inclusion of CIPP and open trench rehabilitation projects.
