Gateway Mapping Inc., together with parent company J-U-B Engineers, Inc. teamed on a project to review existing information and help in the development of an initial pavement management strategy for the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). The J-U-B/GMI team is recognized within the industry as experts in roadway design and pavement design and analysis. It has developed several pavement management plans for municipalities and other agencies across the Intermountain West and Northwest.
J-U-B/GMI reviewed existing data provided by the INL including PAVER, FWD and GPR raw data, and GIS- based data. J-U-B met with INL officials to gain a detailed understanding of the goals for the strategy along with the INL capabilities to develop, interpret, update and maintain the data at project completion and in the future. Based on a comprehensive assessment of the information available and field inspections of the pavement at the site, J-U-B recommended INL adopt a standard methodology for developing and maintaining a comprehensive pavement management strategy. GMI also created a web-based map tool for the project team to see pavement condition and recommended treatments as well as to share information easily with management at the site.
