Gateway Mapping Inc. (GMI) has worked with Bingham County, Idaho on an ongoing basis since 2003. We have helped the County accomplish a series of GIS projects, including the mapping of school district/school zone boundaries, implementation of mapping for E911, the creation of a county-wide GIS parcel layer, and implementation of a GIS based asset management program for streets, signs, culverts and bridges. We credit our excellent working relationship with the County as a primary factor in the success of these projects. County staff members and Gateway Mapping employees have been able to work together as a single team with the same vision, resulting in the accomplishment of the County’s GIS goals.
Project Highlights Include:
- Worked with County Clerk to create GIS layers depicting all tax-code areas including school districts, fire districts, and voting precincts
- Produced a dynamic GIS-based, 150 page mapbook showing all County streets and house addresses
- Mapped 25,000+ ownership parcels in ArcGIS and designed protocols for County parcel updates
- Used Python scripting language to create automatic routines for updating parcel and public works data
- Worked with County Road & Bridge staff to define needs for an asset management system
- Implemented a GIS-based program to track pavement, sign, culvert and bridge conditions and work histories using ArcGIS
- Created comprehensive Zoning data GIS layer using county zoning ordinances
- Implemented ArcGIS Server and several web applications to track parcels, zoning, voting precincts, taxing districts and appraisals
- Performed county-wide mapping of soil and agricultural use classifications
