Gateway Mapping Inc. (GMI) uses GIS to support pavement management and pavement management planning projects. Pleasant Grove City used GIS throughout the process of performing an inventory of road conditions and calculating pavement index ratings. They then could also visualize how and where to perform needed treatments to maintain and improve the City’s street network pavements. The model that demonstrates the overall health and condition of the network is consistently updated. GIS not only provides a platform to see updated condition and treatment information but also helps decision makers allocate funds and find gaps in funding for future needs.
