When a new version of software is released there are many questions. We have tried to answer some of the frequently asked questions below.

Q – What’s new with Version 3?
A – Cemeteries love Spatial GENERATIONS because it is so simple to use. We have made it even simpler without compromising functionality. Here are just some of the changes you will see with version 3.0:

  • SG3 has been re-programmed using the latest technology
  • Fresh new look – simple, modern, and easy on the eyes
  • Attach obituaries, photographs, or any file to a grave
  • Drop down lists for more convenient data entry
  • Edit multiple records at one time
  • Simplified Searching and Reporting
  • New Report Preview window
  • Export selected record(s) to text files so you can e-mail information
  • And much more!

Q – How much is this going to cost?
A - The pricing for Spatial GENERATIONS® 3.0 is as follows:

Spatial GENERATIONS® new license $1,195
Spatial GENERATIONS® upgrade - 1.0x to 3.0 $595
Spatial GENERATIONS® upgrade - 2.0x to 3.0 $495

If you have multiple copies of Spatial GENERATIONS® please call for special pricing. If you purchased Spatial GENERATIONS® 2.0x between January 1, 2004 and June 30, 2004 you will receive an upgrade at no charge.

Q – Does Gateway Mapping have a software upgrade and technical support program?
A – Yes! We do have a program in place. Few purchase the plan because the software requires minimal support. Most users pay by the hour for technical support.

Q – Does SG3 accommodate multi-users?
A – Multi-user functionality is currently under development, but there are simple work-arounds. Ask one of our specialists how SG3 can best work to meet your needs.

Q – Will I need to upgrade my computer?
A – Perhaps. Because SG3 is created using the latest technology there might be a need to upgrade your computer and operating system to take advantage of this technology.

Your existing computer

To help you know if you need to upgrade your existing computer, two things need to be considered.

    1. The size of the cemetery. Larger cemeteries require a faster computer, more memory, and more storage.
    2. The status of your existing computer. For example, if your current operating system is Windows 95 or 98, you will need to upgrade.

A new computer

If you are considering buying a new computer, here are some minimum requirements:

Platform: PC-Intel or compatible
Processor: 800 MHz (faster is better)
Memory: 512 MB RAM (more is better)
Hard Drive: Reserve up to 1.5 gig for swap space, software, and data
Operating System: Windows XP (Home Edition and Professional)
Video: 800X600 with 256 colors and plenty of memory
Video RAM: 64 MB minimum (integrated video not recommended)

Other Requirements:

Internet Explorer 5.01.
Cannot have SQL Server 7.0 or 6.5 clustered installations on the computer.
Flash player 6.0 (optional) free from MacroMedia

Q – Do we need to upgrade to the new version?
A – Version 2 is no longer supported. Version 3 is a much improved product. It uses newer technology and has more features while maintaining the simplicity and usability Version 2 is known for. We think you will like Version 3!
